Mary Bright Aldridge, 87, of Scottsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 3, 2021. She was born on June 3, 1934 in Flatwoods, WV, a daughter of the late Cutriff Matthew Bright and Nancy Fisher Bright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Aldridge, siblings: Joanna Serafin, Carolyn Sue Bailey, Colette Bright, Lot Franklin Bright, Robert Fisher Bright, and John Harper Bright. Mary was a long-standing member of Antioch Baptist Church where she attended services regularly until her health no longer permitted.
Surviving are daughters, Nancy A. Kidd and Bobbi K. Hensley (Kevin); grandsons, Scott Kidd (Amanda), Jared Kidd (Amber), Will Smith (Angela), and Hunter Hensley; great-grandchildren, Zachary Kidd, Clayton Cannady, Ciara Cannady, Riley Kidd, Weston Kidd, Colton Smith, and Harrison Smith; a very special niece, Sheila Perini; and many other family members and friends with whom she shared her life so richly.
Mary was a proud veteran of the United State Air Force. She was a superb seamstress, a creative decorator, a cultivator of beautiful flowers, and an excellent cook. Above that, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. We already miss her and look forward to a grand reunion one day in Heaven.
Thank you to the many people who prayed, called, visited, transported, and otherwise helped provide care over the last several months. Your love and service is greatly appreciated.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church in Scottsville by the Rev. Dave Vogt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Family and friends may share memories and photos at www.thackerbrothers.com.
