Mary Murray Deaver, 68, died peacefully in her home after a courageous fight with ALS on February 13, 2023.
Mary is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of 27 years, Edward Lee Deaver and her beloved lab, Ryder. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Christine Bomberger and her husband, Dave, and Emily Beasley and her husband, Allen. She leaves behind two granddaughters, Ryllen Beasley and Claire Bomberger, who always put a smile on her face. Those who knew Mary well will miss her mischievous wit and generosity of spirit, none more than her siblings, Sis Chestnut (Larry), of Hiawatha, KS, Cathleen Marstellar (Rick), of Lenexa, KS, Rick Murray of Arvada, CO, and David Murray (Mary), of Free Union, VA.
Mary was born in Des Moines, IA, on February 20th, 1954 and spent her childhood in Prairie Village, KS, a suburb of Kansas City. In 1966, the large Murray family moved to Locust Avenue where Mary attended Lane High School. She devoted 39 years to Labcorp, logging many miles and making numerous friends. Mary loved cooking, the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing and taking pictures of nature.
Mary was preceded in death by her much-loved parents, Dick and Mary Murray; brothers, Tony Lane, Stephen Murray, and Peter Murray; her aunts Claire M. Burke and Dorothy C. Curley.
To honor Mary’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Place, Suite 300, Charlottesville VA 22911.
Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
