Melvin Quesenberry Obituary

Melvin Asa Quesenberry, age 89, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away on December 28, 2021.  Melvin was born to the late Asa Obediah Quesenberry and Alma Virginia Simpkins Quesenberry.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Rachel Chisholm and by several brothers and sisters.

Melvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, in the Korean Conflict.   Melvin enjoyed his successful career as a Senior Cost Systems Analyst with the U.S. Postal Service, in Washington, D.C.  More than anything, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins football team and he loved to go out to eat at the L & S Diner, in Harrisonburg.

Melvin is survived by his children, Debra G. Ritchi (Sander), Herbert C. Gearing IV, Lisa M. Kimbrough (Charles), Rachel S. Johnson (Colton Showalter) and Michael L. Gearing (Ashley); great grandchildren, Mishelle R. Vickers, Joshua E. Johnson, Jr., Morgan C. Kimbrough, Mason D. Kimbrough, Alexia S. Johnson, and Rourke and Connery Gearing; great great grandchildren, Hadleigh F. Rogers and Gracelynn E. Johnson; siblings, Russell Quesenberry, Aretta Peters and Verna Long.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Chisolm-Bishop Family Cemetery, 2180 Fiddler’s Ridge, Scottsville, VA  24590.  There will be a half hour visitation at the gravesite, prior to the funeral service.
