Michael Ivan Payne

Michael Ivan Payne, 68, of Scottsville, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025 at UVA Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Charlottesville, Mike was the beloved son of the late Roy Ivan and Faith Stargell Payne. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, whose kindness and unwavering love, touched the lives of all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his cherished wife Karen Wright Payne, his loving daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Dale) Wiggins, his adored granddaughter Carter Faith Wiggins who was the light of his life, his adopted mother Dorothy Baughan and of course his faithful dog Bella who never left his side. He is also survived by his Aunt Janice and numerous cousins who he cherished greatly.

His family was his greatest joy and he will be remembered for his warmth, generosity and steadfast devotion to those he loved.

A funeral service to honor Mike’s life, will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Alberene Methodist Church, located at 3061 Alberene Church Lane in Esmont, Virginia.

His legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
