Phyllis Barbara (Capp) Scanga, 87, of Lake Monticello, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.
Born on April 26, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Aiello) Capp. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Vincent J. Capp.
Phyllis was a devoted homemaker who cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Known for her feisty spirit, she was an avid collector of antiques and found joy in traveling and exploring new places.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert Joseph Scanga; her son, Anthony Michael Scanga (Wilma Click); two grandchildren, Lauren Scanga (Scottie Saberg, Jr.) and Abigail Scanga; and three great-grandchildren, Scott Saberg III, Alessandra Rose Washington, and Elias James Washington. She is also remembered by her former daughter-in-law, Mindy Scanga, and her lifelong friends, Jean and Jim Weeks.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery in Scottsville, officiated by Father David Mott.
