Rachel Snoddy Mays

Rachel Snoddy Mays, 84, of Arvonia, passed away on September 5, 2025, at Chelsea Health and Rehab Center.

A native of Virginia, Rachel was born on February 3, 1941, to the late Earl and Martha (Miller) Snoddy.

Rachel enjoyed crafting, gardening, and listening to music. Her greatest blessing was the gift of her family. She most enjoyed sharing a meal with them or even sitting back and watching the little ones run around.

Rachel was previously a member of Mineral Baptist Church in Louisa and most recently a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Arvonia.

She was a member of the Eastern Star for 50+ years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Mays, her brothers, Clyde Snoddy, E.B. Snoddy and David Snoddy; her sister, Mildred Muth; her granddaughter, Crystal Marie Wilmoth.

She leaves behind her sons Billy Gene Wilmoth, Robert Wilmoth and his wife, Cassie; grandchildren, Brittany Wilkerson, Dustin Wilmoth and Ruby Ludovissy; great grandchildren, Landon Edwards, Crystal Wilkerson, Wesley Ludovissy, Waylon Ludovissy and Annie Wilkerson; her sisters, Mary Cline, Carolyn Monger and Lisa Meyers; honorary grandsons, Christopher and Aaron Cheely. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 4898 Bridgeport Rd. Arvonia, VA 23004 with Pastor Ron Nida presiding. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a meal in the fellowship hall following the interment.

The family will receive guests for 1 hour before the funeral service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Chelsea Health and Rehab. The care and support Rachel received during her time at Chelsea Health and Rehab never went unnoticed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rachel’s honor to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church or American Diabetes Association.
