Ralph Douglas Gowans

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved, Ralph Douglas Gowans, age 69, on March 12, 2025. Ralph passed over to the Lord after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Muscular Dystrophy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, sister, niece and nephew.

He leaves behind his wife, Bonnie and their two sons, Paul (Erica) and Shawn (Jessica). He also leaves behind 7 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 1 great grandson, 2 step granddaughters, his loving mom-in-law, 1 sister and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ralph loved his family and being outdoors; loving it most when he could be together with his family sharing the outdoors. He especially loved spending time fishing and hunting with his sons. Spending time at family gatherings, camping, taking care of his yard, playing cards, shooting pool, watching his sons and grandchildren play sports and dancing with his wife always brought a smile to his face.

He was a self-taught mechanic and was able to repair just about anything.

He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Thacker Brother’s Funeral Home, 650 Valley St. Scottsville VA. A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Scottsville Cemetery, 400 Hardware Rd. Scottsville VA.
