Raymond Nelson McDaniel, 82, of Esmont, died on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at his home.
He was born on September 3, 1942, in Charlottesville, a son of the late Wilmer Carroll and Gertie Florence (Shifflett) McDaniel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert McDaniel, Floyd McDaniel, Otis McDaniel, Thomas McDaniel, William McDaniel; three sisters, Thelma Morris, Mable Kingrea, and Emigene Collier, and a special friend Kermit Roberts.
Mr. McDaniel served in the U.S. Navy, worked for Pete’s Plumbing in Charlottesville and was an avid hunter.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ethel Mae (Morris) McDaniel; a son, Raymond Nelson McDaniel, Jr. (Melissa); two daughters, Crystal K. Craig (Jeff), and Christine M. Worley (Scott); six grandchildren, Cole, Austin, and Summer Craig, Abigail, Joshua, and Matt Worley; one sister, Christine Robb; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nelson Shifflett, Robert Hogue, Kenny McDaniel, Pete McDaniel, and Tippy McDaniel.
Raymond wishes to share his gratitude to his wife and family for their care and support throughout his lengthy illness.
In keeping with his wishes, the viewing will be private.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Holly Memorial Gardens.
