Reba W. Smith

    Reba Gray (Wood) Smith, 82, of Palmyra, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.

    She was born on March 2, 1937, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Benjamin Claude and Argie (Adams) Wood.      

    In addition to her parents, Reba was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Wood.

    Reba retired as Managing Partner for Four SeasonsRealty in Albemarle, NC.  She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in New London, NC.  She enjoyed taking ocean cruises! Reba especially enjoyed visiting the Alaskan coastline and the Caribbean. She also enjoyed people and traffic watching from the comfort of her front porch. In the last several years, she especially enjoyed visiting with Snowball, her younger son’s Bichon Frise. She fondly referred to him as “Grand Dog”.

    Survivors include her husband: Harley Lee Smith; two sons: T. Nathan Smith and his wife, Stephanie Fan; Michael B. Smith and his partner, Maria Zots; and a number of other extended family members and friends.     

     A committal service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 25, 2019 in the chapel of Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina by Pastor Hillary Wood.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 pm on Saturday evening, November 23, 2019 at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home in Palmyra.  

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Samaritan’s Purse of Boone, NC; Salvation Army of Charlottesville, VA; and Beaver Dam Baptist Church of Troy, VA.
