Robert Anderson Obituary

Robert Leon Anderson, 92, of Scottsville, joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

He was born on July 1, 1930, in Scottsville, a son of the late Wiley Young and Mattie Irene Haden Anderson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Eloise Roberts; and four brothers, Benjamin Douglas Anderson, Orville McCloud Anderson, Everette Wiley Anderson, and Haden Bledsoe Anderson.

Bob grew up in a large family during the Great Depression.  He earned a full scholarship to the University of Virginia and graduated from the UVA McIntire School of Commerce.  He never took his opportunity for his education for granted.   After college he served in the United States Army.  While working as an accountant for Hantzmon, Weibel & Company he became a CPA and soon after became a partner of the firm.  He continued to work for the firm for over forty years until he retired in 1997.  He was a devoted Christian and very active in the church.  He was a long-time member of Scottsville Baptist Church, the Jefferson Park Baptist Church, and the Charlottesville Rotary Club.  Bob enjoyed, UVA football, mowing his yard, Bible study and traveling with Edna. Later in life he enjoyed watching and discussing old movies.  He was thrilled if you sat and watched one with him.  He volunteered accounting services for many area charities and non-profit organizations including The Covenant School, Comyn Hall, The Scottsville Cemetery Association and The James River Art Council.   He served on the Board of Directors at The Covenant School and Comyn Hall.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Livie Edna Tapscott Anderson; four children, Donna Lynn Anderson Rogers and her husband Zane, William Glenn “T.A” Anderson and his wife Betty Jean Dixon, Billie June Davidson Dutram and her husband John, and Olivia Leigh “Libbie” Davidson; eight grandchildren, David Zane Rogers and his fiancée Tammy O’Brien, Neal Ward Rogers and his wife Amanda, Margaret Adell Anderson and her husband Chris Carter, Emma Lee Anderson and her husband Ryan Jenson, Amanda Rae “Mandy” Layman  and her husband Roger, Olivia Dawn Torain and her husband Tony, Aubrey Leigh Gibson and her husband Jesse, and Laura Shannon Plummer and her husband Tom; thirteen great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Bob was dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren.  Even though the family deeply feels the loss of their beloved patriarch they also feel his everlasting binding strength woven with his unconditional love.

The family would like to thank Charlene Wood and Chris Nash who were Bob and Edna’s care givers. He thought the world of you both and because of you he was able to continue to live life on his own terms in his last years.
