Roger Tooley Obituary

Roger Lee Tooley, 72, of Oak Ridge, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his family home in Scottsville, VA on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, after a long battle with Dementia.  Born December 11, 1948, he was the son of the late Bill and Essie Tooley of Scottsville.

After graduating from Albemarle High School, Roger entered the United States Army,

serving in Vietnam where he received a Bronze Star.  Upon returning from Vietnam, he married Sandra Kay Haislip on October 13, 1973.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sandra; his son, Travis Lee Tooley of Oak Ridge, North Carolina; a niece, Bonnie Wiese, her husband, Michael, and their son Alex, of Lake Monticello; and lots of cousins and friends.

Roger retired from Flowers Bakery and Flowers Family after 40 years of service due to Dementia.  He is the only employee ever to receive the W.H. Flowers Award, the highest award given by the company.   

A special thanks to Margaret Tooley and his favorite cousin, Joyce Spencer, for all of their help during his illness.  

Calling hours for friends and family will be from 3:00 pm -5:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.  Burial will be private.  

Memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s name to Fox Memorial Baptist Church, 2847 W River Rd, Scottsville, VA  24590.
