Obituary
Ronald Alex Spencer, 75, of North Garden, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
He was born on June 15, 1947 in Charlottesville, a son of the late John Kenneth and Maggie Lozelle (McCary) Spencer Mays.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Michael Spencer, Roxie Smith, Donald Spencer, and Monty Spencer; two sons, Steven Spencer and Todd Spencer; his first wife Patsy Spencer; his second wife Donna Spencer; and his stepfather Cecil Mays.
Mr. Spencer was a talented woodworker and had many skills such as landscaping, painting, and building homes. He enjoyed taking old things and making them new and enjoyed restoring his Farmall tractor. He loved collecting and displaying Indian memorabilia, especially arrowheads.
Survivors include a brother, James L. Spencer of Lake Monticello; a son, Chris Spencer of Charlottesville; a foster son Zachary Whetzel of Stuarts Draft; a sister, Jean Johnson; a sister-in-law, Patsy Spencer; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Alberene Cemetery by Pastor Robert Price.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.
