Ronald "Ron" Bullock

RONALD “RON” BULLOCK of Louisa, Virginia transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, July 28, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving mother, wife and eldest daughter. Ron was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 19, 1948 to Lily May Murphy and the late Elizer Bullock. Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Bullock; his maternal grandparents, Herbert Murphy and Eva Campbell; his paternal grandparents, John Bullock and Viola Armstrong; and ALL of his paternal/maternal aunts and uncles (including Cicero Murphy-Hall of Fame Pocket Billiard Champion).

He is survived by his faithful wife, Veronica; his loving mother, Lily May; his dedicated daughters, Rhonda and Cassandra; his sons, Ronald and Christopher; his son in law, John Kempson; his grandchildren, Brittany, Shakiya, Shayenne, Chianna, Savannah, Alexander and Iysha; his mother in law, Thelma Rosa; his sisters-in-law, Rebecca, Angela, Maria; his brothers-in-law, Ulysses, Charles and Howard; his nieces and nephews, Michael (Nia), Maria-Helena, Jacqueline, Victoria, Christina, Christianna, William, Joshua, David, Zipporah, Deborah, Johanna and Elijah; and a host of cousins, especially Janis Fowler (John), Crystal Jefferson, Juanita Campbell, Jessie Campbell, Vonda Gaskins, Boone Brooks (Clara), Monique Taylor-Issacs (Byron), Maureen Chin, Velva Lee (Ronzo), and Cynthia Bullock.

Ron was a member of the Rising Sun Baptist Church and was their guitarist for several years. However, within the last 2-3 years as his illness progressed, Ron began worshipping on the Sabbath with the Nothing But the Word ministry led by Pastor Arthur D.B. Lee. It was here that Ron solidified his faith and came into the “Truth”. He began to fervently study the Bible and share the gospel and scriptures with his loved ones, friends and strangers. Ron knew his time was short so he continued to “drop the seeds”– weeks before his death.

We would also like to thank Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Jacky Nuckols, UVA Medical Center (Dr. Matthew Green, Dr. William Skelton and Ron’s original oncologist-Dr. Stefan Gorsch), the Hospice of the Piedmont (namely Dr. Angela Stilzner, SW Amy, RN Lindsey, RN Kelly, RN Jenny and hospital aide, Tanieka) for all the blessed help, care and compassion shown to Ron and our family during his entire treatment and his final days and hours. We humbly thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and for the many precious expressions of love and offers of help. If we have missed anyone, please charge it to our heads, not our hearts!

A graveside burial service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Cemetery (175 Oak Leaf Drive) with Pastor Arthur D.B. Lee, officiating and giving the eulogy.

THERE WILL BE NO REPAST. However, all family members are requested to gather at the Bullock residence following the service for a private prayer and moment of reflection.
