Roy Howard Haislip, 82, of Scottsville, died on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
He was born on June 20, 1941, in Fluvanna County, the son of the late Norman Merritt and Blanche (Drumheller) Haislip.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Howard Haislip.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Connie Glass Haislip; a son, Travis C. Haislip (Kristi); a daughter, Bethany H. Hamner (Willie); a sister, Lillian Irene Morris of Charlottesville; six grandchildren, Brian Haislip (Madalyn), Riley Haislip (Brittney), Blake Haislip (Sarah), Caroline Yancey (Ethan), MariKaye Hamner, and Will Hamner; three great-grandchildren, Annie May Haislip, Everett Clark Haislip, and Lucy Jane Haislip; an aunt, Belle A. Ware of Maidens, VA; two special cousins, May Lythgoe and Larry Haislip, and other extended family and friends.
Howard served in the U. S. Navy from 1962-1966. He worked as a Machinist for Sperry Marine for over eighteen years and was a Mail Carrier in the Scottsville area for over twenty years. Affectionately known as “Dadoo” to the grandchildren, Howard’s greatest pleasures in life were spending time with his family and farming. He was a member of Fluvanna Baptist Church and was a Life Member of the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Fluvanna Baptist Church by Pastors Alan Acree, Dave Vogt, and Randy Golladay. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian Haislip, Riley Haislip, Blake Haislip, Will Hamner, Ethan Yancey, and Brian Tapscott
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Fluvanna Baptist Church.
