Ruby Maxine Pippin Thompson, of Scottsville, VA, went to join her Lord and Savior on February 26, 2025.
She was born on April 21, 1932 in Scottsville, a daughter of the late Joseph Paul Pippin and Myrtle O’Brien Pippin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. Thompson, and her daughter, Janice Faye Thompson.
Survivors include three daughters, June Lilly, and Sandra Clore (Gary) of Scottsville, and Judy Rosson (Jim) of Palmyra; nine grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Ruby was devoted to her family and church. She was an exceptional seamstress, gardener, and cook. Ruby served her church as Sunday School teacher, choir member, soloist, Vacation Bible School director Women’s Missionary Union member, and president of the senior citizens J.O.Y. Group for 18 years. She found joy in ministering to those in her community.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to The Colonnades of Charlottesville for their excellent and loving care of Ruby during her final years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 4422 Antioch Rd., Scottsville, VA on March 8, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church building fund.
