Russell "Rusty" Franklin Payne Jr.

Russell “Rusty” F. Payne, Jr. ,78, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Rusty was born in Charlottesville on Thursday, February 17, 1944. He spent his early childhood on the family farm in Scottsville. In his later years, Rusty returned to the family property to live out his retirement and enjoyed life there with his faithful dog, Deets.

Rusty was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by three children Hunter Payne, Sarah Trachsel and Nancy James; five grandchildren, Brendan and Lauren Trachsel, Maddie and Sarah James and Kayla Payne.

Large in stature and in heart, Rusty will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 1:00PM at Scottsville Cemetery.
