Sherry Denise (Thacker) Wilkerson

Sherry Denise Thacker Wilkerson, age 59, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday August 17, 2023, after a long health battle with systemic Sclerosis. She was the daughter of David E. Thacker, Sr. and her stepmother Linda Merrill of Hyde Park, New York, and Earlene C. Buzzard of Schuyler, Virginia. Sherry was preceded in death by her stepfather John F. Buzzard.

She is survived by her loving husband, David A. Wilkerson, Sr. of Scottsville, VA; two sons, Gerry M. Faircloth of North Garden, VA, and David A. Wilkerson, Jr. of Scottsville, VA; two stepdaughters that she loved as her own, Crystal D. Johnson (Marcus) of Arrington, VA, and Whitney N. Wilkerson of Amherst, VA; adopted daughter, Rebecca Jansen of Roanoke, VA; one stepson, Jason Davis of Scottsville, VA; seven grandchildren, Nevaeh, Shaelyn Gray, Serenity, Trinity, Aniyai, Mikayla Johnson, and Londyn Edwards; two half-brothers, Billy Loving of Schuyler, VA, and David Thacker, Jr. of New Paltz, New York; one half-sister, Penny Tinnell of Dillwyn, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she grew up with and considered her brothers and sisters.

Sherry was a member of the board at New Light Praise & Worship Center, and also served as Treasurer for many years. She loved her church family very much. She worked for Albemarle County Transportation for 16 years, retiring in 2010 due to illness. Sherry loved to take pictures everywhere she went, as reminders of where she had been and the special times she shared with family.

Sherry loved the Lord and shared that love with those that knew her. She has received her healing and is breathing freely now with her Lord and Savior.

A graveside service will be held, Monday August 21, 2023, at 2 P.M. in Scottsville Cemetery, 400 Hardware Street Scottsville, VA with Pastor Roger Edwards officiating.
