She devoted many years of her life to her work at Hilltop Grocery and later with Albemarle County Schools, where she eventually retired. Her dedication and care for those she worked with and served made a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Shirley embraced the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid bingo player and, in her younger days, could often be found dancing at the local dance halls. Her warmth and enthusiasm shone brightest when she was surrounded by family and friends, as she treasured every moment shared at family gatherings.
According to her wishes, Shirley will be laid to rest privately in Scottsville Cemetery.
