Shirley Ellen Parmly, born Shirley Napier, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, peacefully at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Shirley was born on September 19, 1943, in Albemarle County, a daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle (Ripley) Napier.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul E. Parmly, Sr.
She retired after many years at Fork Union Military Academy. In Shirley’s free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Her chicken and dumplings were the family’s favorite and will forever be remembered. Shirley was an inspiration to her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela E. Pierce and her husband, Michael of Louisa; her son, Paul E. Parmly Jr and his wife, Sherry of Palmyra; Shirley has five grandchildren, Phillip Parmly and his wife, Tiffany, Chance Parmly and his wife Brandy, and Kaycie Parmly and her fiancé, Trevor all of Palmyra, Brittany Herndon and her husband, Patrick of Orange and Hannah Pierce and her fiancé, Adam of Lousia; Shirley was also blessed to have five great-grandchildren, Maycie, Dawson, Madison, Ensley, and Layne; she is also survived by her sister Estelle Millington of Goochland, and her nephew, Mike Johnson and his wife Cyndi; along with a host of extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022, with Pastor Randy Golladay Officiating.
Those desiring may pay their respects one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home.
