Shirley Mattie (Mosley) Smith

Shirley Mattie (Mosley) Smith, 85, of Buckingham, VA, joined her Lord and Saviour on July 18, 2023, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on August 22, 1937, a daughter of the late Charlie and Maria (Patterson) Mosley.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Smith and her sister, Doris Banks.

Shirley was a member of Salem Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed exploring her creative side by painting figurines. However, she most loved spending time in the outdoors surrounded by God’s creations.

Shirley is survived by three sisters, Pauline Ayres, Florence Perkins, and Carol Mosley Thomas; one brother, Charlie Mosley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday July 23, 2023, at Salem Baptist Church by Pastor Oscar Glover. Burial will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
