Steven Carroll Townsend

Steven C. Townsend, 72, of Rustburg, VA, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Born August 12, 1951, he dedicated his life to his family.

Steven spent many years employed at UVA as a custodian of student housing on Brandon Avenue in Charlottesville, VA.  He obtained a CDL and began his Million Mile career in 1994 with Harris Trucking, Madison Heights, VA. He ended his driving career with Miller Truck Lines, Altavista, VA in 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll L. Townsend and Ernestine H. Townsend of Scottsville, VA and grandchild Kristopher.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Townsend (Mitch Mawyer), and grandchildren Milo Norris and Jacob Mawyer of Rustburg, VA; his sisters Sharon Kidd of Portsmouth, VA and Vicki Drumheller (Waddell) of Scottsville, VA; his niece Melissa Evans (Jay) and great nephew Hunter Evans of Scottsville, VA.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on  Monday, April 15, 2024, at Scottsville Cemetery with Pastor Randy Golladay officiating.
