Sueko Arima Cloherty, 88, of Scottsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Born on December 23, 1937, in Japan, she was the daughter of the late Tani and Sakuma Arima and the second of eleven children. Sueko devoted her life to her family as a homemaker and found great joy in simple pleasures. She loved spending time outdoors, playing bingo, and dining out. She had a special fondness for her pugs and took pride in raising chickens and ducks.
Sueko is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Francis Cloherty; two daughters, Kathleen Patricia Morris of Charlottesville, and Ann of Massachusetts; and nine cherished grandchildren, Riley, Kasey, Haley, Tyler, and Nathaniel Morris, Elijah Morris, Abraham Morris, Julius Morris, and Solomon Morris.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home with Pastor David Vogt officiating. Burial will follow in Scottsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
