Susie “Sue” Thacker May

Susie (Sue) Thacker May went home to be with the lord on May 3, 2025, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. 

Sue was born on November 9, 1949, in Richmond  Va. Sue was the daughter of the late Lewis Tomlin and Nellie Stone Tomlin. Sue had 1 brother. The late Lewis Tomlin Jr. 

Sue lived around the Crozet, Schuyler areas for a large part of her life with her late husband Clyde Thacker. With whom she raised 4 children Sandy Mclaughlin (Bill) of Chester, Va Patricia Nelms (Rob) of Barborsville, Va Donald Thacker (Katie) of Smith Mountain Lake, Va and Judy Thacker (Laura) of Thomasville, NC 

Sue had 12 grandchildren Annie, Billy, Scarlett, Rebecca, Robert, Makenzi,Tyler, Nate, Kayla, Patricia, Trey and Amber. She also had 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She loved them all. 

Sue moved to Locust Grove Va when she married her current husband Eugene May. Sue was often heard saying he took good care of her, and she loved how he always made her laugh even when she was the sickest. She loved cats and had many of her own. 

Sue was almost always a member of a church and attended services regularly until she was too ill to attend. Sue was very crafty and loved sewing, crocheting, and doing craft projects. For many years, she taught kids crafts at vacation bible school. She loved making things for hospital staff to make them smile. She enjoyed meeting new people. She loved to talk and laugh. Sue had many lifelong friends she cherished. She will be greatly missed by those who love her.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home Scottsville, 650 Valley St. Scottsville, VA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, 66 Tanbark Dr. Afton, VA with Lindsay Ellis presiding.
