Theodore R. “Ted” Childress, aged 85, passed away on September 5th, 2024, one day before his 86th birthday, September 6, 1938.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levy and Rosa Childress; two brothers, Jerry M. and Johnny Mack Childress.
Ted was a renowned entrepreneur in Albemarle County, Virginia. Owning and operating a variety of business establishments and real estate properties throughout his life. He was recognized for his service as Coordinator of the Albemarle County flood recovery in both 1969 and 1972. He served in the Army Reserves, was a member of the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department and the Scottsville Jaycees. He enjoyed sharing his good humor and love of music with his customers, friends, and family. His fishing skills were impressive having caught a Muskie in his favorite body of water in the world, the James River.
Ted leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of nearly 67 years, Easter “Bootsie” Childress; two devoted sons, Brent W. Childress and wife, Reagan, and Barry R. Childress and wife, Becky; one brother Donald R. Childress and wife, Judy; four grandchildren, Cidney C. Walker and husband, Brooks, Olivia Childress, Morgan Childress, step-granddaughter Brandi Scott; as well as three great-grandchildren Madison, Maddox, and Nora.
Family and friends will be sharing memories of Ted's life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Fox Memorial Baptist Church.
