Thomas Hemming Jones, Jr., 75, of Charlottesville, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. Thomas, better known as Tom, was born in Buckingham County, Va., to the late Thomas H. Jones, Sr., and Sarah V. (Brown) Jones.
Tom worked for Uniroyal Tire Company for 30+ years as a mechanical technician. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to also establish a landscaping business in his younger years and he became one of Charlottesville's favorite cab drivers after retirement. Tom enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, and watching classic westerns with his wife, Geneva.
A private viewing and funeral service will be held at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home. Interment ceremony will be at New Hope Baptist Church, Esmont, VA. For protection and privacy, we ask those attending to wear facial coverings/masks, place their cell phones on silent and refrain from taking photos/videos during service.
The Jones’ family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and we ask that you continue to pray for our family.
Matthew 5:4 (NLT) God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
