Vernon Odell Taylor, 86, of Scottsville, died on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Albemarle Heath and Rehab.
He was born on March 21, 1939, in Buckingham County, a son of the late Christopher Thomas and Ruby Viola (Davis) Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ann “Ginny” (Branch) Taylor; and a brother Christopher Thomas Taylor, Jr.
Mr. Taylor worked as a mechanic at Alberene Soapstone, a welder at Associated Steel, and a Security Guard at Monticello. He enjoyed working on LEGO sets, riding his motorcycle and scooter, and working in the yard.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Taylor Breeden (Jimmy) of Scottsville, and Kay Taylor (Tammy) of Charlottesville; one grandson, Mitch Breeden of Scottsville; brother, Doug Taylor (May) of Zion Crossroads; a nephew, Chris Taylor; a niece, Marcie Llera; and special friends who were like his children, Sarah and Bill Sturm.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Scottsville Cemetery by Pastor Randy Golladay.
