Wayne Kenneth Carney

Wayne Kenneth Carney, 89, of Palmyra, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at his home.

He was born on March 1, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI, a son of the late Jerome and Mabel (Hackbarth) Carney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Ann (Sperber) Carney; and a daughter Christin Moore.

Wayne served in the US Navy from 1951-1954 and worked as an Engineer with IBM.  He was a Master Gardener; was very active in the community and a founding member of Grace and Glory Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two children, Mitchell Carney and wife, Kate of Boonsboro, MD, and Linda Wyndham and husband, Chris of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Christin “Nicki”, Charles Thomas, Ryan, Megan, and Michael.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Grace and Glory Lutheran Church by Pastor Meredith Williams.  A committal service will follow at 2:00 PM at Monticello Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Grace and Glory Lutheran Church, 683 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Palmyra, VA 22963.
