William Adrene “Bill” Haislip passed away at his home on September 6, 2025, in Fluvanna County, Virginia, where he was also born on August 24, 1942. Bill was the son of the late Rennie D. Haislip, Sr. and Northy Ann Kirby Haislip.
He was a member of Wesley‘s Chapel United Methodist Church in Scottsville, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sharing his love of the outdoors with friends, family and local youth. Many of those youths, now adults, credit Bill for them choosing the right path and being a positive influence on others themselves. Bill believed in working hard. He made a living shearing sheep statewide and selling automobiles in his younger years. As well as farming, cutting firewood and landscaping throughout his lifetime. He loved dancing, with his charisma and smile that could light up a room, he never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son William “Billy” Haislip, five brothers, Roy, Gerald, Cecil, Rennie Jr., and Ed; and eight sisters, Elsie Searcy, Effie Kirby, Mary Collins, Dorthy Pollard, Janice Thacker, Florence Melton, Margaret Diggs and Francis Baker.
Survivors include his wife Deborah Haislip, daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Brookman and husband Dennis, bonus daughter, Emily Beasley and husband Allen, a stepson Stephen Smith and wife Christa, a stepdaughter Meghan Greene and husband Jeremy, two sisters, Alice Bolling and Karlen Layne, six grandchildren, Brett Haislip, Brooke Tapscott, Taylor Hollis, Carter Baird, Ashtyn Brookman and Ryllen Beasley, five step grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Bill‘s life will be held at Wesley‘s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1807 Rolling Road South Scottsville, VA 24590 on September 13th at 11am with graveside service immediately following. A reception at Wesley Chapel will immediately follow the graveside service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to some very special ladies who helped to take care of and love on Bill in his last months, Grace Rose, Carolyn Harris, Tasheena Anderson, Sam Staton, Porsche Stinnie, Jody Shelly, Becky Hicks, and Heather Haislip. You made the final season of his life sweeter and more comfortable. We are so thankful for each of you and your care for him.
In remembrance of Bill, we suggest that contributions be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont or to the cemetery fund at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
