William Markle Obituary

William A. Markle (Bill), 56, of Palmyra, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at home from a nine-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born April 8, 1964, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, FL, and was the son of Everett E. Markle and Rose Marie Russano Markle. Bill graduated from Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Ft. Myers, FL, in 1982.  In Mahopac, NY, on February 8, 1992, he married Patricia Devine Markle (Patti), who survives him.

Bill and Patti left New York and moved first to Charlottesville, VA, in late 1996 and then to the Lake Monticello community in early 1998, where they purchased a home and raised their three children.  He was employed by CenturyLink as a Telephone Technician. Bill was an active parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Palmyra.  He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher at Sunday Mass; his faith provided him with much comfort.  Bill loved fishing and spending time outdoors, eating out at different restaurants (he was a self-described foodie), and traveling to Kennebunkport, ME, Williamsburg, VA, and North Ft. Myers, FL, for vacations and get-away trips.  Spending time with his wife and three children, whom he was most proud of, was what he enjoyed the most.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Everett and his older brother Jimmy.  In addition to Bill being survived by his wife Patti, he is also survived by his son William and William's girlfriend Jamie Yi, his son Raymond and Raymond's girlfriend Amanda Hayes, his daughter Brigid, his mother Rose Marie, his sister Cindy Markle Diemer and her husband Jesse, his niece Jennifer Diemer, his three nephews Christopher Diemer, Eric Markle and his wife Scarlet and their three daughters Meadow, Willow and Everly who were Bill's great-nieces, and Phillip Markle, his uncle Robert Russano, his aunt Lois Price, his cousins Ann Markle Napoli, Wayne Markle, Helen Quimby, Jerry Mayone Sr., Jerry Mayone Jr. and Mary Alecca, his wonderful friends who meant so very much to him, and his church family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4309 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Palmyra, VA 22963.
