Lucy Christine (Stargell) Easton, 83, of West River Rd. in Scottsville, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Envoy at the Village in Fork Union.
She was born January 9, 1927 in Alberene, a daughter of the late Walter Jackson and Lucy (Cleveland) Stargell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Walter Herbert Stargell.
Mrs. Easton was a long time member of Scottsville Presbyterian Church and the Charlottesville Moose.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, James Austin Easton; a daughter, Joan Easton Roberts and her husband Mike of Charlottesville; two sons, Jimmy Easton of Scottsville, and Larry Easton and his wife Lisa of Scottsville; two grandchildren, Michaela Roberts of Charlottesville and Michael Roberts, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Woodridge; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Faith; a sister, Mary Stargell Kidd and her husband Ray of Scottsville; two brothers, Peyton "Bud" Stargell and his wife Mavis of Long View, Texas, and Milton Stargell and his wife Irene of Schuyler; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville by the Rev. Gordon Lindsey. Burial will follow in Alberene Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Scottsville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 186, Scottsville, VA 24590; or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, ATTN: Tribute Gifts, Church St. Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, New York 10008-0780.
The family would like to thank the staff of Envoy at the Village for the care and concern they gave "Mrs. Lucy," and Dr. Robert Adams for his help with her battle with Parkinson's.
