She was born in December of 1955, in Charlottesville, a daughter of the late Roy Lewis and Lola (Baber) Shores.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Wolff; a brother, Dewey Shores; and two foster brothers, William “Bill” and James “Jut” Warren.

Debra loved butterflies and birds, attending church and making greeting cards for her family.

Survivors include two brothers, Roy E. Shores of Scottsville and Charles L. Shores (Mary Ellen) of Arizona; four sisters,  Mary Payne (C.W.) of Florida, Carolyn Lewis of Cape Charles, JoAnn Lam and Linda Lloyd (John), all of Scottsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Centenary United Methodist Church by Pastors Betty Marshall and James Radford.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Centenary U.M.C. 12341 South Constitution Route, Scottsville, VA 24590; or to Legacy Hospice, 500 Falconer Dr., Suite 100, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff (Salina, Becky, Linda, Samantha, Haley and Elizabeth) of Blue Ridge Adult Care Home in Crozet for the special care and love provided for Debra during her stay at the home; and to the staff of Legacy Hospice who cared for Debra for two years.
