Virgie Allen Simpson

     Virgie Allen Simpson, 97, of Charlottesville, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Charlottesville Health & Rehab Center.    

     She was born on May 10, 1919 in Schuyler, a daughter of the late John Hamilton and Lula Belle (Puckett) Allen.     

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil L. Simpson.  

     Virgie was a 1938 graduate of Schuyler High School. A dedicated member of Schuyler Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served her Lord every day of her life.  She was a caregiver throughout her life and touched many lives in many ways as well as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother that cared for her family who loved her dearly. 

     Survivors include three children, Willard Simpson and wife, Pat of Frederick, Maryland, Bob and wife, Marilyn of Charlottesville, and Nancy Stull and husband, Juan of Jefferson, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Brett Simpson and girlfriend, Wendy of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Kathy Davis and husband, Steve of Avon, North Carolina, Andy Simpson and wife, Sylvia of Lewisburg, West Virginia, Jim Simpson and wife, Katherine of Davidsonville, Maryland, John Simpson and wife, Brandi of Richmond, Ryan Stull and wife, Kim, Travis Stull and wife, Sarah all of Kearneysville, West Virginia, and Byron Chandler and wife, Andrea of Earlysville, Virginia; many great-grandchildren and  great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other extended family members and friends.

     The family would like to thank Charlottesville Health & Rehab and Legacy Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of our mom.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home by Pastor Jon McCranie.  Interment will follow in Alberene Cemetery.
