Following the death of Betty’s Mother several years ago, I met Betty and her husband, Harlin “Chubby” Sykes when they invited my son to a dinner at their home. Since I was staying with my son they also invited me. I was shy about going because I had never met them. After arriving, they accepted me
as if I were a member of their family. Betty was smiling and she loved cooking and planning get-togethers with Family and always had plenty to eat and you could feel
the love she had for everyone. Birthday dinners, Easter, cookouts for 4th of July Thanksgiving and Christmas. She was so kind to help me out with Doctors and Dental appointments when my son couldn’t take me. We even had a girls day out, going to Goodwill where we found things we couldn’t live without and finished the day by going to Zion Crossroads to eat lunch. Always smiling when she was able to help others. I am going to miss her a lot, I know she is where she belongs, fly high Betty. Hugs, Mama Smith.

Betty and I shared a granddaughter, Caitlyn McWhite. I've know Betty for over 30 years because our children were sweethearts in high school. She was always very quiet, loving and sweet. She always had a smile on her face. I was very sad when I heard she was ill and I prayed for her to recover. She will be missed by so many and I know her family all loved her very much. I know Caitlyn has comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and that her spirit will live on in all those who loved her.

Sherry, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was a fighter, for sure. A very sweet person. I've known her since you and I were kids. She has always been a very giving and sweet hearted person. Now she will be in heaven, where she will feel no pain anymore. She will singing the praises of God with my Mom. They were such good friends when we were kids. I remember coming to your house and we would play with all your dolls while she and my mom would share their life stories together. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your brothers as well as to Chubby.

Deepest sympathy for her family and friends. Great joy for her leap into the Kingdom of God. Betty truly lived her life fashioned after Christ...she was a Bridge to all others over troubled waters...Laying herself down so others could cross over. No doubt in my mind that even in death she draws souls to Christ.
